Data Point #1

Florida Sweeps the Retirement Rankings

“Florida just pulled off a clean sweep, and this one is pretty impressive. According to WalletHub’s 2026 rankings of the best cities to retire in America, Orlando came in at number one, Miami at number two, and Tampa at number three.

That’s right. The top three cities in the entire country are all in Florida! And it doesn’t stop there. Fort Lauderdale ranked eighth, and St. Petersburg came in at number sixteen.

So, what’s driving these rankings? WalletHub looked at everything from affordability and health care to quality of life and recreational activities. Tampa actually ranked fifth in the nation for recreation.

But here’s what I find interesting from a real estate perspective. These are the same lifestyle factors that can influence where people choose to buy a home, whether they’re retiring, relocating, or simply ready for a change.

Of course, every Florida community offers something different. And that’s where knowing the local market really matters.

If you’re curious how your community stacks up, or what these trends could mean for your next move, let’s talk!“

Data Point #2

Florida’s Retail Market IS Expanding

“Florida is open for business, and I’ve got the numbers to prove it. Here’s a statistic that might surprise you. During the first half of 2026, Florida accounted for 26% of all new retail space delivered in the entire United States.

That’s more than one out of every four new square feet of retail space!

And here’s what makes that even more interesting. Florida only accounts for about 11% of the nation’s existing retail inventory. Statewide retail occupancy is sitting at 96.2%, and more than eight million additional square feet were under construction at midyear. Closer to home, Tampa saw retail property transaction volume jump 161% year over year.

Now, why should you care if you’re not investing in commercial real estate? Because retail development can bring new restaurants, shops, services, and amenities into our communities.

And those are things people often consider when deciding where to live. That doesn’t automatically mean home values will rise, but it does show how an area is evolving.

Want to know what’s changing in your local market? Let’s talk!“

Data Point #3

Pasco County’s $10M Holiday Attraction

“Apparently, Pasco County didn’t get the memo about keeping holiday decorations on a budget! Because we’re talking about a ten-million-dollar holiday attraction. Yes, ten million dollars!

The entrepreneurs behind Snowcat Ridge, Florida’s alpine snow park, announced plans for a brand-new holiday light experience in Pasco County for the 2026 Christmas season.

And while that sounds like a pretty spectacular way to celebrate the holidays, there’s actually a bigger story here. This is another example of private investment going into entertainment and recreational experiences in our local communities.

When people are deciding where to live, they’re not just looking at the house. They’re looking at what there is to do, where they can spend their weekends, and what makes a community feel special.

One attraction won’t determine your home’s value. But it’s another piece of the bigger picture of how Pasco County is evolving. And as your local real estate resource, that’s the kind of development I love keeping an eye on!“

Data Point #4

Sebring’s Retail Revitalization

“What would you do with more than 322,000 square feet of retail space? Well, a Texas-based investment company has some big ideas for Sebring’s Lakeshore Mall. ICA Properties announced plans to acquire the mall and breathe new life into this longtime Highlands County landmark.

At the time of the announcement, the mall’s reported occupancy was just 52%, meaning there’s significant room to bring in new businesses. The company’s plans include property improvements, updated signage, and efforts to attract both national retailers and local businesses.

And they’ve tackled something similar before. Their Music City Mall in Texas reportedly went from about six remaining tenants to 114 stores and full occupancy.

Here’s why I think this matters. Real estate growth isn’t always about building something brand-new. Sometimes, it’s about reinvesting in places that already exist. And for homeowners, keeping an eye on local business investment can help us understand how our communities may change. Curious what developments like this could mean for Highlands County? Let’s talk!“

Each pop-by gives you exactly what you need to bring to the door, so use that to your advantage!
